Doctors

Lewis Gelfand, DVM

I am from Long Island originally, obtained an MS in genetics and my doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. I returned to New York in 1983 and started All Creatures in 1985 as a visiting at home service. Opened All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in 1987 and have happily provided care for Long Beach and the surrounding communities since. I am dedicated to keeping up with the technologic developments which veterinary medicine has experienced in the last 30 years. I became a laser surgeon in 1996 and transformed All Creatures into a digital practice over ten years ago. I am advocate of regenerative therapy and the future applications it promises. I have been blessed with a lovely family with my wife, daughter, son and his wife and my grandson. I am the proud owner of 3 dogs, Packer, Yogi, and Lambeau. I love Yankee baseball, Packer football, old and new movies, reading science fiction, working out and pretending to play golf.

Wayne Geltman, DVM

Dr. Geltman grew up in Long Beach, received his B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987 and subsequently received his D.V.M from the University of Florida in 1994. Following a 1 year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in NYC, Dr. Geltman joined the staff at All Creatures Veterinary Services in Long Beach in 1995 and became a partner in the practice in 2003.

In addition to providing the most up to date, and quality veterinary medicine, Dr. Geltman’s area of special interest is the integration of a variety of alternative treatments to complement modern, conventional care. Dr. Geltman is certified in veterinary acupuncture (IVAS) and in a chiropractic technique called veterinary orthopedic manipulation or VOM. Dr. Geltman is a proponent of more natural, species appropriate diets, western and chinese herbs, homeopathy, supplements, and therapeutic laser therapy.

When not at work, Dr. Geltman enjoys spending time with his wonderful family, which includes his wife, daughter, son, 2 dogs (Ozzie and Liam) and cat Heidi. Dr. Geltman enjoys being at the beach, exercising, reading (especially historical fiction), watching movies and following his favorite teams the New York Jets, Yankees, Knicks, Penn Quakers and Florida Gators!

Dawn Palmero
I’ve been a member of the All Creatures staff since Sept 2002. I am a receptionist and I find the veterinary field very rewarding. I’ve been working with animals my entire life. I am the proud mother of three grown children and two grandchildren. Oh and by the way my house is full of fur and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

All Creatures is my second professional home. After a fulfilling career in higher education administration at St. John’s University, I am now embracing another love in helping animals and “their” people. My cats and I have been clients of All Creatures for many years and I am very happy to have become part of this place of healing. I began my second career at All Creatures making phone calls and performing administrative work and after Superstorm Sandy I took over some receptionist duties as well. I love Long Beach, and I share my home here with my sister, our flock of cats and my feline loving dog “Murphy”.
