Complete Surgical Care for Your Pet

When your pet needs a surgical procedure, we offer advanced surgical care, monitoring, recovery and pain management for your pet.  Types of surgery we perform include:

  • Spays
  • Neuters
  • Emergency surgery (laceration repair, wound repair, foreign object removal)
  • Soft tissue/general surgery(i.e., growth removal)
  • Feline declawing (laser only)
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Oncology

We utilize laser surgery for a number of routine and advanced surgical procedures.  Laser surgery is performed utilizing a beam of light that is used to vaporize tissue in place of cutting with a scalpel blade.  The beam seals blood vessels and nerves as it moves across tissues to provide less bleeding in surgery and less swelling and pain after surgery.  Chance of infection is reduced because the laser sterilizes tissue as it vaporizes.

We provide the same level of patient monitoring that you would receive if you were having surgery.  We monitor all of your pet’s vital signs with state of the art equipment as well as manual techniques. Pets are monitored during surgery using pulse oximetry, respiratory monitoring, EKG, temperature monitoring, while they are receiving a mix of oxygen and anesthetic gas.

Pre-Surgical Care
Before any procedure, all pets are carefully screened through a physical exam and pre-anesthetic blood test. Analyzing information from the blood test will allow us to determine if it is safe to give your pet anesthesia, and identify any pre-existing medical conditions that should be addressed. Our on-site laboratory allows us to have the results back for many of these tests within an hour.

Post-Surgery
Once the procedure is completed, we will call you with a status report. When you pick up your pet, the doctor or nurse will review the procedure with you and send you home with easy to understand aftercare instructions. We will call you within a few days to check on your pet and answer any additional questions.

Anesthesia and Pain Management
All Creatures Veterinary Services believes in maximizing the comfort of your pet before, during and after his/her procedure.  Anesthesia and pain management protocols are individually developed for each pet.  Proper pain management improves your pet’s recovery and speeds the healing process.  We administer medication before beginning the procedure, during the procedure and post-operatively for the comfort of your pet. We use a multi-modal approach to pain management, which means we administer small amounts of different drugs to minimize any pain that your pet might feel.   Because we administer lower doses of each individual drug, your pet will experience fewer adverse side effects, more complete pain relief and faster post-operative recovery.

Post-Operative Care
Following your dog or cat’s operation, our staff is trained to perform a number of therapy techniques that will ease pain and promote faster recovery.   This may include acupuncture, cold therapeutic laser treatments or medications which facilitate healing.

Please call us if you have questions regarding the procedures offered, or our surgical protocols. We would be more than happy to provide you with more information and answer all of your questions or concerns.
