Canine Wellness Exams are Essential to Keep Your Dog Healthy

Regular wellness exams allow us to keep your dog as healthy as possible.  As dogs age, their bodies begin to undergo the same types of changes that occur in their human owners.  Changes in metabolism, musculoskeletal and sensory organs are common and can often be significantly improved when diagnosed early.  All Creatures Veterinary Services recommends an annual wellness exam for all dogs, and a semi-annual exam for dogs with health conditions or senior dogs.   During your pet’s annual wellness exam, our veterinarians will:

  • Perform a physical examination of your dog
  • Perform a cardiac evaluation (listen to their heart)
  • Examine ears and eyes
  • Perform a dental evaluation (visually examine our dog’s teeth and gums for plaque and tartar, tooth weakness and decay)
  • Examine skin and coat for any unusual lumps, bumps, swelling, or infection
  • Abdominal Organ Evaluation
  • Lymph Node Evaluation
  • Perform a Musculoskeletal evaluation of muscles, bones, joints and back
  • Test your dog for heartworms and prescribe heartworm preventative
  • Vaccinations as recommended according to your dog’s individual risk of exposure
  • Recommend flea and tick prevention
  • Depending on the age and general health of your dog, we may suggest more frequent visits or additional laboratory testing.
  • Update your pet’s medical history for baseline reference in the future.

Please bring the following items with you to ensure the best possible experience while visiting our clinic:

  • Your dog on a leash or in a carrier
  • Any previous veterinary records pertaining to your dog if this is your first visit to our hospital
  • A fresh stool sample (ideally less than 12 hours old)
  • Questions you have for us regarding your dog's health
